The Best Length of time for Music Production Schools is Two Years

At one point it was pretty common for students of music production to just go to school for two years and call that it, but now more music production schools are pushing for four year degrees to maximize the amount of money they can make and it just isn"t a good option for students who are serious about becoming professionals in the industry. It makes sense for many careers that have a heavy load of book work but music production is different.

Music production is not any easier to accomplish than other professions are it is just different. Instead of learning a lot of information from books and then learning a little more through experience, you learn a tiny amount from books and the vast majority from actual testing and working on projects.

Many companies give people with a degree more consideration than those without one, but they don"t care that much about if you have a two year or a four year degree. What that means for you is that you should go for the two year degree because its cheaper, takes less time to get, and gives you the same benefits.

Also you will learn most of the basic concepts in the first year or two of school and any of the advanced concepts and skills have to be learned through constant practice by you, which means that you need to be working on music, not sitting in a class room.

Don"t jump into a four year college for music production unless you understand the benefits that you are going to gain from it. In most circumstances there really aren"t any benefits and the only time you should think about it is if you just aren"t able to learn the basic material in the first few years that you are attempting to do so.

For this lower price you get most of the same benefits and you give your career a boost because you won"t be weighted down by as much debt in the beginning when you are searching for your first good job.

With a two year degree you will also have more time to focus on actually practicing producing music for different bands which is what is going to build up your career the most. Not only will the experience help you impress employers, but the connections you build will help your own business if you start a studio of your own.

By avoiding the four year music production schools you will spend less money and you will have time to work on other projects that will probably help your career more than a four year degree could.
